Decorative Finishes – My clients have a very large entertainment room with a bar. They needed a fun and friendly place to entertain. My challenge was to transform a large empty not very interesting space feel like a cozy pub. The woodwork had a light oak finish. I glazed and antiqued the woodwork making it darker a worn. The ceiling above the bar I painted faux copper sheeting complete with faux rivets. The larger ceiling I applied Lincrusta (textured wallcovering) and faux painted as aged copper to simulate an embossed metal ceiling. The walls and other ceilings have a smokey, very worn patina finish. The flanking walls at the bar I made faux bricks from plaster, then faux and character finished them. What was once a large cold empty space, has become a warm, inviting and fun place to entertain though the power of paint.

Color Medley with Faux Travertine Arches. My challenge here was to give each room it’s own identity while establishing harmony as the rooms are visible from each other. I separated the rooms by faux painting travertine stone on the drywall arches. I painted an orange-ish yellow (which I pulled from a tone in the kitchen cabinets) at the stove to establish a focal point. I painted the faux painted limestone fireplace at the opposite end to do the same when in the kitchen. Each room is very much it’s own space while complementing the entire space.
